BusinessWeek China and Interbrand published China’s
20 best brands. The survey aims at identifying solid value assets by measuring the profit generated by the
brands and the potential earnings.
B-to-C brands, brand loyalty, geographical reach were also some of the criteria applied to select the domestic companies. China mobile (1st rank) succeeds in boosting its overseas markets, increasing its brand value.
While “a brand is valuable only if it can produce earnings”, some well-known companies like TsingTao Brewery fall into a price wars, generating consequently a weak profit. Leisure brands like NetEase(11th rank), the Chinese leader in online games, reflects the growing attractiveness of entertainment industry.Heavy research and development investment is a way taken by Huawei Technologies, a Chinese leading provider in next generation telecommunication networks. Innovation can make in fact the companies adapt to competitive environment, reach developed markets such as the United States and create a long term-value.
The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will offer opportunities to these brands to gain value.
