Brand protection

DSM Firmenich

Optimization, harmonization, centralization, technical and administrative management of the group's domain name portfolio, and monitoring of the use of its name online

DSM Firmenich is a leading producer of fragrances and flavors. Founded in Geneva in 1895, it adds value to countless consumer products, from soaps and skincare to everyday essentials and life's little luxuries.

The challenge

As a global leader in its market, Firmenich is a prime target for malicious actors. To best protect its brand image and name within its B2B network, DSM Firmenich called on Vanksen. Protecting its various domain names and countering the fraudulent use of its brand on the internet are real challenges.

The project and its results

First, Vanksen analyzed DSM Firmenich's portfolio of brands and domain names to classify them by type. Domain names (identical to, containing, or similar to the DSM Firmenich label) identified during monitoring and likely to cause harm to the brand were highlighted so that they could be given special attention.

We have established weekly monitoring of domain names that reproduce the trademark (Firmenich.online, firmench.com, dsm-firmenich.pl, dsm-firmenich.uk, dsmfirmenich.co.uk, firmerich.com) and a process to counter them. An alerting system and IT security processes are also in place, This allows our team of experts to be responsive in order to avoid any scam such as CEO scam, our client to blacklist on their mail server the most dangerous domains, and allow us to initiate takedowns of harmful websites.
